Skin Analysis Cardiff

Understand your skin beyond the surface.

Portland uses an advanced Zemits skin analysis system to look at your skin in far more detail than a visual consultation allows. It captures and analyses detailed facial imagery so that different characteristics and concerns within the skin can be assessed properly.

About the treatment

Advanced skin imaging, not a glance in good lighting

The point is not the equipment. It is that you leave understanding your own skin — and better placed to make informed decisions about treatments and skincare.

It is £50 on its own, and complimentary when booked with a qualifying facial or treatment costing £75 or more.

The technology

Different ways of seeing your skin

The Zemits system photographs your skin under several different kinds of light, and each one shows something the others do not.

RGB is closest to how your skin looks in daylight — surface tone, texture and visible marks. UV reaches beneath that, highlighting sun damage and pigmentation that has not yet surfaced. Polarised light cuts through shine and reflection to show texture, fine lines and the condition of the skin more clearly.

Put together, they build a picture of your skin that is difficult to get from a mirror or from a visual consultation alone.

The difference

More than what you see in the mirror

Some skin concerns are obvious. You can see them, and you already know they are there. Others are harder to read from appearance alone — sun exposure that has not shown itself yet, uneven pigmentation under the surface, changes in texture or hydration that happen slowly enough that you stop noticing them.

That is the gap this closes. Instead of being told what your skin needs, you see it. The imaging is on screen in front of you, and we go through it together.

It changes the conversation. It is much easier to decide what to do about your skin when you can see what you are deciding about.

How it works

What happens in a session.

A conversation and an assessment, not a sales appointment.

01

Scan

Your face is positioned within the Zemits skin analysis system and detailed facial images are captured.

02

Analyse

Multiple imaging modes assess different characteristics of the skin and build a detailed analysis.

03

Understand

We review the findings with you and explain what the analysis is showing, in straightforward language rather than jargon.

04

Plan

We discuss your skin goals and, where appropriate, recommend treatments based on your individual concerns.

Your results

What you leave with.

Typical timeframes rather than a schedule. Results vary between individuals, and your own plan is agreed at your appointment.

On the dayAssessment

Your skin is assessed and your history and goals discussed.

Same appointmentYour plan

We set out what we recommend and why, with costs.

AfterwardsNo obligation

There is no pressure to book anything on the day.

Going forwardA reference point

Repeat analysis lets you compare how your skin looks at later stages.

Your results

Your results, explained

This is not a case of putting your face into a machine and being handed a report you cannot read. The analysis is only useful once someone sits down and goes through it with you.

We review the imaging together, explain what it is showing, talk through the concerns that matter most to you, and answer whatever you want to ask. From there we identify the areas worth focusing on and, where relevant, discuss which treatments would suit.

Treatment planning

Understand your skin first. Then decide what it needs.

Most people arrive at a clinic website, pick a treatment that sounds like it fits, and hope. This is the alternative — understand the skin first, then choose.

Priorities differ. For one person it is hydration, for another texture, pigmentation, signs of ageing, sun exposure or congestion. Once we can see which of those actually apply to you, the conversation about treatment becomes a much shorter and more honest one.

Where a plan is appropriate, we set out what it involves, how many sessions are likely and what it costs before you commit to anything. There is no obligation to book — some people take the plan away and return later, and that is fine. If the honest answer is that no treatment is right for now, we will say so.

The assessment

A 12-factor skin assessment.

The analysis measures twelve separate factors rather than focusing on a single concern, which is what makes it a picture of your skin rather than a verdict on one part of it. Among them:

  • Hydration
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Skin texture
  • Pigmentation
  • Pore condition
  • Overall visible condition
Over time

Tracking your skin over time

A skin analysis does not have to be a one-off. Repeating it at intervals lets you compare the appearance and characteristics of your skin at different points in a skincare routine or a course of treatments.

That is useful as a visual reference if you are working towards something over months rather than weeks. It is a record of how your skin looks at each stage, not a promise of a particular outcome.

Suitability

Who is a skin analysis for?

You do not need a major skin concern to benefit. It suits anyone unsure where to start, anyone juggling several concerns at once and unsure which to address first, anyone who has tried treatments before without the result they wanted, and anyone who would rather understand their skin before spending on it.

It is equally reasonable to book one because you are beginning a longer-term skin journey, because you want to keep track of how your skin changes, or simply because you would like more insight into it. That is a good enough reason on its own.

If you already know which treatment you want and simply want to book it, you do not need an analysis first — though we will still assess your skin before treating you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, ask us on WhatsApp — a real person at the clinic answers.

Is the skin analysis free? +

It is £50 on its own, and complimentary when booked with a qualifying facial or treatment costing £75 or more.

Do I have to book a treatment afterwards? +

No. There is no obligation to book anything on the day.

How long does it take? +

Long enough to assess your skin properly and discuss your goals. We will confirm the appointment length when you book.

What technology do you use? +

An advanced Zemits skin analysis system. It photographs the skin under several kinds of light and analyses twelve separate factors, which gives us far more to work with than a visual assessment alone.

Is this a medical diagnosis? +

No. The analysis assesses and measures the visible characteristics of your skin — it does not diagnose medical skin conditions. If something we see warrants medical attention, we will say so and suggest you see a GP or dermatologist.

Will you try to sell me products? +

No. The outcome is an understanding of your skin and a treatment plan, not a product list.

Do I need one before every treatment? +

No. We assess your skin before treating you regardless. An analysis is most useful if you are unsure where to start or have not had the result you wanted before.

What if no treatment is suitable? +

Then we will tell you. Sometimes the honest answer is that nothing we offer is right for your concern, or that now is not the right time.
