At a glance.
A comfortable session with no downtime, best taken regularly.
The gentlest treatment we offer
It is the most comfortable treatment we offer, and the only one where the main thing that determines the result is consistency rather than intensity.
It is used on its own as a course, and frequently added after another treatment where that is appropriate.
How does LED light therapy work?
Different wavelengths of light penetrate the skin to different depths and are absorbed by different structures within it.
Rather than injuring the skin to prompt a repair response — which is how microneedling and radiofrequency work — LED works by delivering energy the skin absorbs directly. Nothing is broken, so there is nothing to recover from.
This is why it is comfortable and has no downtime, and equally why it depends on regular exposure rather than a single intense treatment.
What happens in a session.
A short, comfortable session with nothing to recover from.
Consult & assess
Your appointment begins with a short consultation about your skin and where LED fits — on its own as a course, or supporting another treatment.
Preparation
The area is cleansed. There is no numbing and nothing applied that needs to be removed afterwards.
The session
You lie under the device for the duration of the session. It is comfortable throughout.
Straight back to your day
There is no downtime. Most people go straight back to their day afterwards.
When will I see results?
Typical timeframes rather than a schedule. Results vary between individuals, and your own plan is agreed at your appointment.
Most people return to their day immediately.
The skin begins responding to regular exposure.
Any difference builds across repeated sessions rather than after one.
Regular sessions maintain the benefit, since the effect depends on frequency.
How often should I have it?
LED is a treatment where consistency matters more than intensity. A single session is comfortable but a course is what produces a worthwhile difference, which is why the course of twelve exists at £300 rather than £360.
Sessions are short and can be taken frequently, since there is no recovery period between them. We will suggest a sensible rhythm for your skin at your appointment.
Adding LED to another treatment
LED is often added after another treatment rather than taken alone. Because it involves no abrasion or needling, it can generally follow other work in the same visit where that is appropriate.
Whether that makes sense depends on what else you are having and the state of your skin on the day. We will advise rather than assume.
Is Dermalux LED right for me?
It suits someone who wants a comfortable treatment with no downtime, is willing to attend regularly rather than occasionally, and understands that the result comes from consistency.
If you are looking for a single dramatic treatment, LED is not that, and we would rather say so than sell you a course you will be disappointed by.
Dermalux LED prices
The course of twelve works out at £25 per session rather than £30, which reflects the fact that LED depends on regular exposure rather than a single treatment.

Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, ask us on WhatsApp — a real person at the clinic answers.
Is there any downtime? +
None. There is no needling and no abrasion, so there is nothing to recover from. Most people go straight back to their day.
Does it hurt? +
No. It is the most comfortable treatment we offer — you lie under the device for the session.
How often should I have it? +
It works best taken regularly as a course rather than occasionally, which is what the course of twelve is for.
Why is a course better than one session? +
LED depends on consistent exposure rather than intensity. One session is comfortable but a course is what produces a worthwhile difference.
Can it be combined with other treatments? +
