Because the energy is focused at depth rather than applied across the surface, HIFU can target the deeper layers where skin firmness originates while leaving the surface of the skin intact.

How does HIFU work?
HIFU focuses ultrasound energy at a precise depth beneath the skin, raising the temperature in the targeted layer while the surface of the skin is left intact.
That controlled thermal effect prompts the skin’s natural repair and remodelling response, which is a gradual biological process rather than an immediate one.
This is why HIFU results build over a period of months rather than appearing straight after treatment, and why we ask you to allow time before judging the outcome of a session.

On the face and neck, HIFU is used where skin firmness along the jawline, cheeks and neck is the concern. Face is £150, and face and neck together is £200.
On the body, HIFU is used where skin laxity is the main issue — the abdomen, arms, thighs, knees and the area above the bra line. Body pricing starts at £150 for the first area, with each additional area £50, up to four areas in one plan.
Face and body pricing are separate. Which approach suits you, and how many areas are sensible to treat together, is agreed at your appointment.

Which skin tightening treatment is right for me?
Portland offers two skin tightening technologies, and they work in different ways.
HIFU uses focused ultrasound to reach a precise depth beneath the skin without breaking the surface. DermaPro RF combines microneedling with radiofrequency, delivering energy below the surface through fine needles, which also addresses texture and scarring alongside firmness.
Neither is better than the other. Which is more appropriate depends on the area, your skin and what you want to address — and in some cases a combination is the sensible answer. We will explain our reasoning at your appointment.
Is HIFU right for me?
HIFU tends to suit someone whose main concern is skin firmness rather than fat or texture, who is comfortable with a result that develops gradually over months, and who would prefer a non-surgical approach with no downtime.
Where skin laxity is substantial — particularly following significant weight loss — non-surgical treatment may not achieve what you are hoping for. We will tell you that at your appointment rather than recommend a course that will not deliver.

Body areas are £150 for the first area and £50 for each additional area, up to a maximum of four areas in one treatment plan where clinically suitable. Face and body pricing are separate.
